Walled Farms

A collection of walled farms from Brigade Models.  I've done a simple paint job on them.  I'll have to look at making some fields, vineyards etc. to attach to these rural workplaces.

They will see use with my 2mm French Wars of Religion, as well as with my 6mm SYW and French Revolutionary Wars.

Buildings with a column of reiters crossing from the right.  You can see a pike unit at the back.  Both are 2mm units made from Irregular miniatures.

The farm buildings with the pike unit to the fore.

Another shot with the reiters.

Looking at the figures and the buildings, they all seem nicely in scale.  For obvious reasons 2mm wargaming is the exception to my usual practice of using buildings one scale smaller than the soldiers.  One has to maintain some sense of proportion... ahem, my apologies!

I've got another playtest of my rules in a couple of weeks.  So, one or two farming households may witness the engagement!

  1. Tiny gems, Richard. Well done! What would one size down from 2mm be? A postage stamp?

You missed a real barn-burner between David and Steve yesterday on the fields of Ucles. David's comeback was the stuff legends. Hopefully, I can find time to chronicle it.

  2. More fantastic looking tiny buildings, Richard. Halving the size of a 2mm item would be rather extreme, you would need an electron microscope to paint it!

  3. Great work Rich, what size bases are the farms on?

    1. I thought about doing bigger bases, but that would mean including fields etc. And that would mean less flexibilty. So fields etc. will be separate.

  4. Lovely work, and the buildings work very well at this scale and in proportion to the troops.

  5. Lovely work there Richard and simple and bright works for these small scales, so they still 'pop' when on the table.

    1. Thanks Steve. Simple and bright is good guidance for small scales.

  6. Excellent. Were these what you were working on last Monday? Very nice indeed.

  7. These are fabulous buildings. The fact that they are a tiny bit bigger than 2 mm works really well with the figures too, doesn't it?

    1. Thanks James. Brigade Models really produce wonderful 2mm buildings and have quite a range. I am pleased about how they work with the figures too.
