A Little Diversion - French FPW Dragoons

I just needed a little break from the 2mm project to refresh the enthusiasm.  So I painted up two French Franco-Prussian War dragoons that have been waiting a VERY long time.....

So, very quickly here are Napoleon III's 7th and 11th dragoons. Ready and waiting to be shot out of their saddles. No dismounting in the FPW like cavalry did in ACW.  A case of not learning lessons previous and recent conflicts.

  • The figures are from the excellent FPW range from Essex Miniatures.

For your information, the buildings are 10mm scale paper/card ones that I put together... um... about five or six years ago.  The washed out colour is down to nearly empty printer cartridges.

Back to 2mm!

  1. This was a quick diversion! Fine looking French horseflesh and troopers.

  2. Lovely work there Richard and always good to have a diversion or two to maintain interest etc. However this tends to mean that I disappear down a new rabbit hole and not reappear until far too much time has elapsed!

  6. They may be just cannon fodder for the Krupp guns, but they look great!

  7. Lovely brushwork mate. They might get blown out of the saddle in their first battle, but they will look good up to that moment.
