Austrians Off The Painting Desk

Just finished this unit of Austrian infantry to add to my 28mm French Revolution collection. It's been a while since I painted any of these.  In fact these bad boys have been on the desk for at least ten years - cleaned, undercoated and staring at me.  You know what it's like; other projects draw you away.

These represent IR26 Schroeder regiment. They are from Elite Miniatures. They are not to everyone's taste, but I love the sense of movement they bring when based en masse.

  1. Excellent brushwork, Richard! For me, no need to detail the manufacturer. Elite figures have a very distinctive, haughty style that are instantly recognizable. I love ‘em!

  4. Very nice indeed Richard, worth the decade wait! I know what you mean about Elite, I have a few and they are not particularly to my taste, faces seem a bit caricature-ish and a lot of them seem to have their heads angled back, as though staring heavenwards!
Having said that, the newer Revolutionary Wars ones look a lot nicer, and you have proved this with these fine examples.

    1. Cheers Keith. Hopefully the next one won't have to wait so long.
You are right about these being nicer. They are bigger too. More like 30mm.

  5. A damn fine body of men Richard, will the next unit have to wait the same time to be painted?
