Well... strictly speaking I've made a breach.

Following a play test of my siege rules using my 2mm buildings and troops (see
Testing Siege Rules), I decided to make some breaches instead of just removing walls. So, this short post is just that!
 |
| A wall section in the raw! |
 |
| They are very easy to take a hacksaw to, and cut crisply. A sharp Stanley knife was then applied. |
 |
| Grit and sand is then applied. Then undercoated in black. |
 |
| The rest is all just dry brushing - a darkish raw umber/white mix then sky grey and finally wraithbone (a kind of bone colour - off white). |
 |
| A breached section in the middle of a curtain wall. |
I just have to paint some siege towers that I received through the post yesterday. They shouldn't take long... they're 2mm scale for heavens sake!
All models are produced by Brigade Models.
Nice work! Conquering a project begins with a small breach.
ReplyDeleteGosh, you got this post quickly. I've just published it minutes ago.
DeleteThey look excellent Richard. Not much defence behind those walls now, especially if attacked by the giant bellman and archers like those in the period painting that you showed us! :)
ReplyDeleteBest wishes, James
Thank you, James. Maybe I can use 15mm figures as giants.
Delete'Bellman' was meant to be billmen, of course. Bloody autocorrect.
DeleteI understood.
DeleteThose are excellent Richard
ReplyDeleteCheers, Neil.
Deletea very good visual indication of wall status.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Norm. I just wanted something other than an empty space.
DeleteNicely done Richard:)! I'm pondering on getting a castle of some sort to sort of sit in the distance (ie edge of the table) in my games, purely as a bit of decoration. Sitting on a hill or rocky outcrop it could look rather cool, like many of the ruined castles we saw in Austria this Summer.
ReplyDeleteThey should do the trick. Ray made one on a rocky outcrop for Almanza. Might be worth searching his blog for it.
DeleteGreat work on these Richard. If you ever need all four of them then that will surely mean game over for the defender.
ReplyDeleteLOL, that's for sure.
DeleteGreat work sir!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Michal.
DeleteFantastic result Richard.
ReplyDeleteVery clever turning one wall piece into a couple of breached ones.
Thanks, Ben. I've probably got more than I need.
DeleteThere are only two states for each wargamer's collection.
Delete1) I don't have enough
2) I have too much
😂
LOL. Very true.
DeleteVery nice piece of modelling Richard. works really well and looks great.
ReplyDeleteYou're too kind, Donnie.
DeleteYour breaches look just the job, Richard - nicely done.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Keith. No match for your buildings.
DeleteThey look fab Rich!
ReplyDeleteCheers Ray.
DeleteOooh, those walls look ace Richard. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteMuch appreciated.
DeleteThat looks really effective Richard. Reminds me, I must get back to my own stalled fortress project.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Chris. Everything in its season.
DeleteVery nice. 2mm definately has its attractions.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Lee.
DeleteSplendid breach markers!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you, Iain.
